‘His Dark Materials’ Loses 1.5M Viewers On Its Second Outing For The BBC
His Dark Materials got off to a sparkling start for both the BBC and HBO last week, but lost a little of its shine on its second outing on British television on Sunday night.

The Bad Wolf drama — penned by Jack Thorne and starring Ruth Wilson as the callous Mrs Coulter — was watched by 5.7M viewers at 8Pm on BBC One, according to Barb figures provided by overnights.tv.

This was 1.5M viewers down on the 7.2M who tuned into the series premiere last week, making it the biggest new drama launch on British TV in more than five years.

It is not uncommon for TV dramas to lose viewers for their second episode, and a fairer reflection of the audience will come once catch-up and online viewing through iPlayer is factored in for the Philip Pullman adaptation.

Despite the drop off in audience, His Dark Materials comfortably beat competition

Sean Spicer Voted Off ‘Dancing With the Stars’
Sean Spicer will no longer appear on America’s television sets every Monday evening, at least as part of “Dancing With the Stars.”

The former White House press secretary was voted off “DWTS” Monday night despite President Donald Trump’s earlier tweet urging the American people to vote for Spicer on ABC’s dancing competition show. The tweet has now been deleted and replaced with one calling Spicer’s efforts “a great try” and insisting that “we are all proud of you.”

A great try by @seanspicer. We are all proud of you!

Alex Trebek Gets Emotional on ‘Jeopardy!’ After Contestant’s Heartfelt Message
Alex Trebek appeared to tear up on Monday’s episode of “Jeopardy!” after a contestant used his response to a prompt to convey the message “We love you, Alex.”

As his answer to one of Monday’s questions, Tournament of Champions semifinalist Dhruv Gaur penned the message with a heart in place of the word “love,” betting $1995 of his $2000 on the answer.

“Oh, that’s very kind of you,” Trebek, 79, said after seeing the message. “Thank you.”

Continuing with the tournament, he added, “[That] cost you $1,995, you’re left with $5.”

Trebek, who has hosted “Jeopardy!” for 35 years, revealed in March that

Dancing With the Stars Week 9 Recap: Who's Headed to the Semifinals?
Another bizarre season of Dancing With the Stars is swiftly approaching its end — and when I say bizarre, I don’t just mean the “Sean Spicer is still on?!” kind of bizarre (though that is still very much a thing… well, until you get to the bottom of this recap, that is).

Rather, this Dancing cycle has also been missing a few themes that had previously become staples of the show. I can’t be the only one bummed that there was no Most Memorable Years Night this time around, right? And no Trio Night? Even when it’s given

Alan Horn Remembers How Rick Ludwin Saved ‘Seinfeld’

Rick Ludwin was the unsung hero of “Seinfeld.” That’s how Alan Horn, Walt Disney Studios chairman and former head of “Seinfeld” producer Castle Rock Entertainment, remembered the longtime NBC executive who died Nov. 10 at the age of 71.

Ludwin was instrumental in getting the beloved “show about nothing” on to NBC as a regular series. Castle Rock had produced an offbeat pilot starring Jerry Seinfeld as a standup comedian in New York. NBC decided to burn off “The Seinfeld Chronicles” pilot with an airing in the dog days of summer — on July 5, 1989.

Horn told Variety that Castle Rock figured the

ABC to Stop Using Live+Same Day Ratings

ABC is set to become the second of the major networks to no longer use Live+Same Day figures to measure the performance of its shows (with the exception of live programming), according to an internal memo sent out by ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke.

The move comes four years after Fox chose to do the same, and continues the change in how networks measure their viewership as Live+Same Day ratings give way to delayed and multiplatform viewing.

“As viewership has evolved, so too has our ability to capture and monetize it, from C3 to C7 all the way to Multiplatform 35-day.
